Americans think that it's some sort of grave insult to say people like watermelons and fried chicken.
The European mind cannot comprehend this.
Yankees don't understand that 60% of things associated with blacks are just things associated with the South in general.
Problem is the people who make media don't want to interact with a smelly Confederate racist, so they just apply all the standard hillbilly overall tropes when they portray them. Leaving it to seem like basic Southern staples, like fucking fried chicken and watermelon (poverty food and great for dealing with the heat, something we all needed), are just black things.
So its a case of Hollywood creating reality for people, and becoming so deeply entrenched that you can't even tell people otherwise. Like they did with 18 being a magical age number, despite that basically being only in California/Florida and a few irrelevant states.
Whoa, careful there, you can't go speaking about retarded age of consent laws like that unless you want to be labeled a pedophile for quuestioning things.
God I wish more people understood how weird and cringy the rest of the world considered Americans for worshiping 18 like it's a magic number.
