None of the belligerents actually have control over the situation. It's now properly out of control, and this is really what the anti-interventionists were warning about: Trump not wanting war isn't the same as Trump not getting one anyway, even if he does everything right, even if there's no subversion (and we know for a fact there's tons of it).
Now, hopefully, he either gets both sides to fuck off; or he will have to walk away. If Israel truly wants this war, then he'll need to do one of the most difficult thing any POTUS has ever done... and walk away from Israel in the middle of a war, with all of their influence.
I hope he does. He does seem genuinely upset. He's been lying a lot lately to try and manipulate events on the ground, but this seems like a very genuine rant. He's ranting at basically everyone. Someone get him a Diet Coke. Honestly, his walk away from the reporters makes it look like he's got a swagger of both anger and frustration. The whole time he's holding something in a plastic baggy in his hand. I'd bet he was up all night trying to unfuck the deal, and realizing that both parties shit the bed out of incompetence, loss of command and control, or outright subversion.
Trump not wanting war isn't the same as Trump not getting one anyway
If we’re getting a war against our will because Israel refuses not to start one, then our problem is Israel. Which is exactly what so many of us have been saying. The founding fathers warned us about permanent foreign entanglements. It’s time to end our deference and obedience to the foreign nation of Israel.
I think he and I came to the same conclusion.
