Which is why we have devices to clean ball pits now. Parents still believe it. After all that we've been through with lies about anything, I'm wondering if the rest was ever true.
Its one of those things that I can believe, simply because obviously a bunch of plastic balls in a dinky playplace are going to be covered in infinite germs and nasty shit from the grossest kids who get plopped there. And none of those minimum wage workers are ever going to put in the considerable effort to shut the whole thing down, shovel the balls out and clean them to fix that.
Maybe its not worse than a toilet seat, though those get cleaned semi regularly, but it was probably true enough that those things were gross as shit in a lot of places.
Hopefully whatever device you are referring to is effective though. I haven't seen a pit anywhere in close to a decade.

It's got a vacuum and water system when they get internally and then blown back into the pit.
So probably effective, but not an expense/effort a lot of places would be willing to buy/do to keep such a generic play attraction.
I think the cheaper ones are $2,000 while they're generally $5,000-$10,000
A single bumper car is $6,000-$20,000. So, it's within reason.
