You said Democrats. His Democratic Party won 4 terms, both houses of congress during most of those terms, almost the entirety of state governments, and won every cultural, economic, political, academic, scientific, and industrial victory that could be achieved. It was the era where most Americans, particularly whites, celebrated the Left.
Leftism was so rampant that trade unions replaced the entire concept of civil society programs. It was moral to beat someone to death if they weren't going to go on strike.
