I think it's the former. It's usually the females who shoot up schools after trooning out.
I know the Nashville (or was it Memphis) shooter was a troon. My brain is blanking on the other recent mass shooter - got any reminders?
There was one in Colorado, I think, that was an attempt that got quietly and quickly shoved under the rug.
