The church in Lttp was very obvs western orthodox/catholic/generic-christian themed too including the stereotypical music, I always assumed they didn't have crosses only because of NOAs no religious symbols rule.
Nintendo of America was always the most anti-Christian. You would think that using the sign of a cross to repel evil would be obviously regarded as fine. I know there was some legitimate desire to not create any controversy, but it clearly prevented any positive Christian imagery from appearing in the biggest trend at the time.
