They really hate the South African refugees.

And 30+ years later? Mugabe was still blaming "White Farmers" for everything wrong in the socialist utopia of Zimbabwe.
How nice of them to "invite them back" eh? "Oh hey! Sorry for trying to kill you & taking your land and possessions away. Please come back and grow food which used to drive our economy but now we're starving, we totally promise not to do it again! Honest!" (smh)
What else was he going to do? Admit that he wrecked the country?
Who said it was 'nice'? People in the world aren't 'nice'. They do what is in their own corrupt interests. It was in his corrupt interests by that time to invite them back in, but the fact that he did shows that he doesn't care about "killing all white people".
He does care about killing them. It's just deferred until it is easier to do both from practical perspective and a proximity perspective.
Who said it was 'nice'?
Mugabe wanted to kill Whitey, and people of an enemy tribe, and pretty much everyone actually. A prototypical socialist, eh? Once that thin veneer of 'civilization' is peeled off...
It seemed to me that you were suggesting that I thought they did this out of the kindness of their hearts.
I think Mugabe wanted to enrich himself and his ruling party. And there were some people there who were rich, so he took their stuff and blamed them for all the country's ills. Does he hate Whitey any more than Idi Amin hated Indians and Pakistanis?
He sent the army to massacre a tribe that his tribe historically hated, 20K dead? Over the course of 3 years, by his order. He'd been the darling of university socialists until then, suddenly no one talked about him any more :/
It was also political too.
A lot of Whites fled even before he took over, and continued to flee after. IDK if there were all that many left by 2000. 0.16% in 2021 says Wiki, down from 4.3% in 1975.
