I thought that idea was primarily a Calvinist teaching. I guess I'm still confused about the distinction between being chosen and preordained.
Nope, that's straight from the Gospels.
In other words, God's chosen choose Jesus. Which is exactly what happened when Christ's ministry split Judea.
You are free to join The Chosen. Maybe a Calvinist would say there's no distinction. If you joined it was because God chose you.
Preordained is about salvation, while chosen people is about being blessed with Gods favor. I think it’s stupid to argue about chosen, especially if you’re a Christian.
