Anyway despite what it used to mean, it currently refers to a systematic behavioural issue in the 'Black community' in which they try to obfuscate ALL responsibility for their actions by using past grievances.
It's why they are so violent to other races especially Whites calling them niggers as it's basically calling them out on their shitty behaviour.
I think it was downvoted more because of the incorrect etymology for cracker, and because Telia is a bit hyperfocused on the JQ compared to any number of other topics of conversation common on this board.

In the sense of the origin of the word as a slur (which must be what we are discussing here, as opposed to what people mean now, or we wouldn't be discussing the origins of 'kike' and 'nigger') it absolutely is incorrect, as the derivation from 'whip-cracker' came much later than the origin from 'braggart', and that derivation is suspect at best (note no contemporary citations to the practice of slavery in the US.)

As others have pointed out, the origin of "cracker" is a bit unclear, but probably not whips.
Also, as I said in my other comment, origins don't matter too much to modern usage. Sure, "nigger" comes from "black," but it's got all sorts of other stuff attached to it. It's absolutely a slur, although we agree it's only as offensive as people decide it is. But that also just proves the point that origin doesn't matter.
Claiming it's not a slur because of its origin just doesn't work, because of usage. As someone else mentioned, there's nothing inherently offensive about "Jap" or "Paki," and they're just shortenings, but those have been deemed slurs as well.
Usage matters, not origin.
