You're a decade late on that one, why not bring up club penguin while you're at it?
Are there predators in gaming? Beyond the obvious "yes because have you seen some of the devs in Western studios?" line, of course there is, predators are drawn to where kids go. Ironically kids are probably safer in games as they've got more chance getting redpilled and learning EVERY racial slur imaginable.
The REAL one you want to look at is their easy access to social media, that fucking terrifies me to the point I would consider to even make an account you need to 0 charge a credit card to do it just to filter some of them out.
it really does depend on the game and their method of communication. Games that involve matchmaking seem to be safer than server-based games, because the online interaction goes away after an hour. I'd be totally fine letting my kid play things like fortnite, splatoon, Call of Duty, etc. it's games where the server interaction lasts like world of warcraft, minecraft, and Roblox that I would be worried about.
also, no child of mine would ever have a discord account so long as they live under my roof.

Nah roblox is absolutely fucked lol. It's full of predators
Wouldn't know, never played it, was too old for it by the time it came out.
Most I know it for is the FBI memes regarding getting their currency for free.
Pretty obvious, all free to play games are essentially digital playgrounds that draw molesters from all over like a moth to flame
