Old world is solid. Otherwise civ 5,6 are still the best options. The new “civ” (it’s not actually a civ game) decided to make leaders and cultures independent and also cultures change every time ”eras”. So Harriet Tubman (yes a civ “leader” in 7) could lead the mongols, it’s inherently stupid when they could have made multiple selectable leaders from each civ or just allow custom leaders and civs. They basically made a shitty IOS game with 1-2 hour “eras” not a civ game where the play through is meant to take 5-16 hours.
Are they even trying to make an excuse for it or will it be “it’s just a game”. I haven’t played civilization in a long time. Any good alternatives?

That's not how you write"three".
To each their own, 3 was fun but 5 was what got me addicted, 6 is also polished and the most entry friendly and replayable of the games in my opinion.
My experience with Civ 5 was beating it on Deity with under 32 hours played. I haven't touched it in 13 and a half years, according to Steam.
That's not how you write "four".
