Let me explain. I was watching "Den of Thieves:Pantera" which takes place in Nice, France. There is a scene with the thieves driving to a meeting. As they drive the adhan, or muslim call to prayer, is heard. The subtitles even read (islamic call to prayer plays in background). Now this throws me off because, it's France. I hear about takeover and invasion but hearing the shit in a movie, that isn't making a point it's just diegetic sound.
So has there been a scene that unintentionally informed you of the cultural zeitgeist without explicitly doing so?
The opposite of your example (I don't watch modern movies, by and large, so couldn't tell you what's in them), but it's always amazing to see what older movies could get away with.
Death Wish came up a few weeks ago, so this was fresh in my memory, but the "racial equality among muggers" scene is hilarious.
The gangs in Death Wish got more and more inclusive with the sequels. It is funny to hear that scene, and imagine how triggered modern audiences would get.
Yup. Rather ironic. As the series progressed, you ended up with some gangs that were just a bunch of white punks with a token black.
I think this gets posted every year or so on this board, but it's relevant to the post today: https://youtu.be/9rcIJIWqYmo?feature=shared
The Enforcer was released in 1976, which makes it almost 50 years old, but it's still within the lifetime of a number of posters here. You will never, under any circumstance, see the protagonist in a current day movie raise such heated and well-founded objections to affirmative action. It, along with the clip from Death Wish, show just how far western society has fallen in only one generation.
Spoiler alert: despite the female character being uncharacteristically competent, he was correct in his initial assessment as she was later killed.
I always get it from looking at really old photos of White nations. Cities which used to be entirely White. Everyone was well dressed, happy, and friendly. Everything was clean, well kept, and orderly. There's even some really old videos from back then, too, which some people are updating with AI to smooth out the frame speed, so it looks more normal.
Seeing how things used to be, highlights how hellish the current world is, and what we have to fight for to get back.
That trailer for the first disney Star Wars movie where the black stormtrooper just POPS RIGHT UP without any sort of warning and places his giant nostrils over you, the viewer, encompassing you, trapping you. I expect jump scares from horror trailers but Star Wars caught me off guard and I damn near dropped my cell phone.
