Kane and Lynch was a mediocre game that is only remembered for its controversy, otherwise it would be in the pile with all the other "Blockbuster rental" level shooters of its time. Had a great idea, didn't execute it well.
Not that Twilight Princess is a masterpiece, but its at least a solid 7 game compared to that one's 5.
OP here, you're misremembering things. People were up in arms because TP was given an 8.8, and they felt it merited a 10. No-one rated it as low as a 7.
I'll take an overly-loyal fanbase (established from a decades-long history of quality titles) wanting a 10/10 over some journo whores selling out their 10/10 ratings any day.
And aside from the overly long tutorial/intro and the dumb bug hunts, I'd give Twilight Princess a solid 85-90.
No that was me rating TP a 7, because its absolutely a 7 level game. The fact that people whined about it getting an 8.8 shows how retarded people were even back then.
It was worse than all of its recent predecessors in every category, and invented new ways to be worse than them on top of it.
Its still a fine game. It does its job well enough to not be knocked down points for most things and is better than the industry average. But there is literally nothing in it worth playing over any other 3D Zelda, other than Midna I guess.
You missed out that silly attempt to rename it "Gamergate 2.0".
That's a doozy!
I was thinking for 2025, we could add "Fuck you for electing Drumpf, you cost us our jobs!"
Did that one journo who struggled in the Cuphead tutorial ever finish the game?
I would say before 2001 it was "look at the loser and his videogames"
Because the Xbox and Halo came out in 2001 and for whatever reason it became acceptable for mainstream people to play
Hold on. Kane and Lynch WAS better than fucking twilight princess
The significance with Kane and Lynch was that there was a guy who did not give it a perfect score and was thus fired because of it.
It was a sign of things to come.
