The problem is perception and critical thinking. "The man in the TV said right-wing ideology is nootzie fascismus. Therefore everyone on the right is a Hitler-Putin."
To those that believe the messaging, the right can only be seen as authoritarian, and moreover, will always be portrayed as less ethical regardless of how tyrannical the message from the left becomes.
the right is necessarily authoritarian because if you have no authority you can not enforce a single thing.
"but trump is cutting government!"
he's cutting parts of the govt he doesn't like (or those which are pushing the populace too hard and could put the whole charade in jeopardy) with all his authority, which he's also using to try to reinforce american hegemony on the world for his handlers. if he was truly "not authoritarian" he would, like all libertarians, immediately be taken over by someone else who is okay with having authority.
this is all a moot point and stupid to talk about though. trump is as left-wing as Insert Popular Left-Wing Figure Here when it comes to loving israel, h1b indians, and cultural hedonism.
But being authoritarian doesn't mean having authority; it's the over-application of authority. I would argue that the left is more authoritarian than the right.
Leftists who are Statists invariably plug the state into that God-shaped hole they're trying to ignore. From there, you get moral busybodies (in CS Lewis' tyranical sense) who will appeal to the authority of the state for every political end, because the state has become their God.
Absolutely, yes. They will also use the authority of the state in the pursuit of ideological ends, as we are seeing with court orders regarding child gender surgery.

You've got a great point at the end.
