Because he arranged a situation where they'd agreed to stand there while he pointed what they believed was a movie prop gun at them. In a straight up fight he wouldn't get that opportunity.
That's a complete lie and inconsiderate of the circumstances. The production hired a know-nothing woman are the firearms master. There should have never have been live ammo on the set, but that isn't Alec's fault. He's had outbursts in the past, and I don't agree with his politics, but calling him a cold-blooded killer is crossing the line. It was a legit accident.
There was no reason to point that gun at her, and he should have checked the weapon first. He may not be solely responsible but he's not innocent.
Occam's razor tells us the simplest answer is usually right- Alec has a history of both violent and misogynist outbursts (he called his own daughter a "little piggy" when she was like 12), I'm going to assume he had another one unless I see some credible evidence proving otherwise.
The scene involved Alec pointing the gun at/ past the camera, which both she, the director and DP where standing behind. It missed the other two and hit her. It was an accident and Alec was doing what he was told to do for the scene. Why would you think he would just point a gun at her for no reason?
He literally killed a defenseless woman, he'll kill a guy mocking him no problem.
