If they crash the economy, I would almost expect him to go to the State of The Union and say: "I will authorizing the collection of the income tax this year, and will not prosecute anyone who doesn't make a payment, nor prosecute any employer who refuses to do income tax withholding. I need Americans to keep their money to invest in America. Here is my proposal for repealing the 16th Amendment which will abolish the Income Tax. I will be sending it to the governors of every state before the end of this speech."

Yeah, it's hard to imagine a world where there isn't a major stock market crash over the next year or two, completely irrespective of what Trump does. The economic situation is just so bad and stocks are just so overvalued.
The big problem is so many boomers have asserted for so long that stock market = economy when that just isn't the case. Despite the stock market soaring, no one could argue the economy was good under Biden when there was ZERO real wage growth over his tenure and housing has been more unaffordable than ever. Contrast that with Trump's presidency where we actually saw real wage growth.
Most people were able to actually see that the economy sucked despite the stock market, so I'm hoping they will be capable of seeing that it is recovering despite a crash. And honestly, who could look you in the eye and tell you that the housing market doesn't need a big crash to correct itself?
Stocks is gay as hell.. its why we have shittier products or more expensive products just so these companies can get more profit that last year. The "they are obligated to make their shareholders as much money as possible NOW" is not too great. Its almost unsubstainable.
