Both KOTOR games are absurdly simple when you look under the hood.
They literally use D&D's d20 system so the combat and other mechanics are that simple to codify working with decades old designs.
Graphics aren't much different between the two despite the 5 years "development time" even though 2 wasn't ever actually finished.
Even just the basic premises are fairly standard RPGs of "do tutorial", "visit x locations", DRAMA, and then fight the big boss.
