Anyone able to recommend any good newer RPGs without any woke elements shoved in?
I made the mistake of buying Drova - Forsaken Kin without looking into it first thinking it was the perfect way to scratch the Gothic itch only to be greeted by Body Type 1 & 2 and a black celt/viking druid within the first minute.
The only other RPGs I've got my eyes on are Tainted Grail (still Early Access) and Skald (not liking the limited color scheme).
If it makes you feel any better there’s a deblackification mod for Drova at basedmod HQ.
I think the Warhammer 40k Rogue Trader is pretty good, I didn’t see any woke elements I’m not that far though.
Felvidek is based, medival Hungarian Jrpg set in a comedic world, it’s basically Berserk meets Monty Python and it’s awesome.
It might be stretching your definition of rpg but Withering Rooms is a rougulike sidescrolling horror rpg I found very enjoyable. Despite playing as a teenage girl in Victorian England there wasn’t really anything woke about it, there’s a side character late into the game who’s implied to be a homo but he doesn’t say it explicitly and it’s not really brought up much.
Already refunded it. But maybe I'll pirate it and use it with the mod. There is nothing I hate more than ethnic 'diversity' where it doesn't make any sense whatsoever and I refuse to support that bullshit. Create a game set in Africa and I'll happily play it but don't shove blacks into a setting where they don't belong. Or really any other ethnicity for that matter. I won't stand for white people in 10th century Japan either.
Rogue Trader, Felvidek and Withering Rooms do look interesting although Felvideks visual style might be a bit much for me. Thanks.
+1 for Rogue Trader. Even if you're not into the 40k lore, it has a lot of content, and it presents some interesting philosophical questions.
This is the way. No money for woke stuff. Torrent and mod the woke out if you still want to play it.
1+ to Felvidek
It was a mighty refreshing (but short) game with entertaining dialogue
