It sounds like you are seeking out something closer to Mordhau than what most people come to Souls games for. So if you haven't tried that one, I'd recommend it though I haven't played it in years to know what its like now.
I'm much more partial to the standard sword and board setup in any of the games, myself. Anytime I do heavy handed unga bunga I go with clubs for crushing instead of cleaving.
Had not heard of Mordhau. Looks interesting, I'll give it a look-see later. Thanks for the recommendation.
