H1B visas are a scam. Maybe the intent was originally to fill hard to recruit positions, but it's clear that the just like everything else, corporations have perverted the rules to their own benefit. The entire visa program should be terminated.
The truth is probably that it was never intended to fill hard to recruit positions. The disasters of today were put in motion by the “Greatest Generation” and the “Silent Generation” along with the boomers. I think we have to accept the fact that there were never good intentions, merely ways to exploit the populace.
Yeah, I think if you were to have a visa that actually intended to fill such positions, it would come with a stipulation like the person getting said visa needs to be paid 2-3x the average salary, or maybe just have a flat minimum salary so you can't exploit it for cheap labour.
Sounds like step one is to actually go after the companies breaking the law.
