A friend wrote what he believed might happen if Trump wins a second term. I've taken this and adapted it a bit, and added my own thoughts. Truthfully, it will probably be much worse.
We may disagree on various political positions and that is okay. I will always defend your right to disagree, to have a difference of opinion. But I hope you can see that Kamala Harris will be a president for all of us and that Trump, even if you agree with much of the what he says, will ultimately harm you because his greatest priority is not the American people—it’s himself and his inner circle.
Here is what I believe Trump will do if given power again:
-
Incompetency - Trump has declared that he plans to remove experts and professionals from the U.S. government and military, and replace them with loyalists. This is usually the tactic of a dictator, and in all cases, it's led to wildly inefficient and incompetent government and military because the loyalists are either inexperienced or incompetent. Expect the U.S. military's ability to respond and defend the country to be deeply weakened and to see shortages and collapses of food and good supply chains, as well as basic and emergency services, to deteriorate.
-
Weakened global presence - The U.S. will surrender to China and Russia its authority as a global superpower, allowing those two countries to gain dominance and impose their will across the world. This will weaken not only our allies and democracy in other countries but also endanger American citizens who may live or travel abroad for work or leisure.
-
Economic chaos. Trump’s tariffs would make basic consumer goods much more costly to the average citizen, and his tax cuts would enrich the 1% while harming the middle class and lower class. It would increase the deficit significantly and potentially increase inflation. Unemployment could skyrocket.
-
Removal of Consumer Protections. Trump would give control to the corporations to regulate the “safety” of their products, leading to more dangerous products on the market, and greater chance of chemicals and diseases in basic goods we use and food we eat.
-
Abortion Rights and Healthcare - Restrictions on access to abortion pills like mifepristone. - Criminalize traveling to obtain an abortion. Potential restrictions on basic contraceptives, like condoms, birth control bills and IUDs.
-
Disempower the Affordable Care Act (ACA), making health insurance more expensive, and making it easier for health insurance companies to discriminate against you on the basis of a preexisting condition.
-
Human health impacts: More heat-related illnesses, expanded range of vector-borne diseases, and poor air quality due to smog.
-
Economic and social disruptions: Climate-related displacement, economic losses in agriculture, fisheries, and tourism, and increased migration pressures.
-
Climate feedback loops: Melting permafrost releasing methane, and large-scale forest dieback reducing carbon sequestration.
-
Temperature rise: Global temperatures could increase by 0.3°C to 0.8°C, leading to more frequent heatwaves and hotter summers. - More extreme weather: Stronger hurricanes, increased flooding, prolonged droughts, and more intense wildfires. - Erratic seasonal patterns: Unpredictable winters with cold spells and shifting agricultural growing seasons.
-
Rising sea levels: Accelerated melting of polar ice and glaciers, leading to coastal flooding, erosion, and saltwater intrusion. - Ocean changes: Ocean acidification and coral bleaching, disrupting marine ecosystems and food chains. - Biodiversity loss: Species migration, extinction, and ecosystem disruption, especially in vulnerable habitats.
-
LGBTQ+ Rights - States gain authority to ban or limit same-sex marriage rights. - Religious individuals and businesses can refuse services related to same-sex marriage. - Decrease LGBTQ+ rights, such as employment protections. - Limit the ability of schools to enforce non-discrimination policies towards LGBTQIA+ students regarding bathroom access, sports participation, and the use of preferred pronouns.
-
Education Policies - Permit more religious expression in public schools. - Restrictions on the rights of students with disabilities. - Increase corporal punishment in schools. - Increase searches of lockers, personal devices, or drug testing in schools. - Deepen disparities between well-funded and underfunded public schools. - Allow schools more leeway to control student speech or behavior that is considered disruptive. - Expand the use of public funds for private, including religious, schools.
-
Breakdown of Constitutional Separation of Church and State - Increased government accommodation of religion. - Religious schools can receive government funding without violating the Establishment Clause. - Religious individuals and businesses can refuse services related to same-sex marriage.
-
Race and Discrimination Policies - Weaken protections against racially discriminatory voting and employment laws.
-
Federal and State Government Power - State legislatures gain increased authority over federal elections. - Curtail federal agency climate crisis regulations. - Curtail federal agency health protections. - Curtail federal agency union protections. - Weaken public sector unions.
This quite literally already happened because of DEI leftist policies
This is just a delusional sperging
Trumps tariffs will put our insanely over regulated economy on an almost even playing field to open up room for trade negotiations. Obama had to redefine employment because his and joes policies were so terrible. Same as Joe currently with recession…
The next ones on health and temperature are all nonsensical stupidity. The largest reason for healthcare cost increases was the affordable care act and government regulation.
This is just beyond parody
Education Policies - Permit more religious expression in public schools. - Restrictions on the rights of students with disabilities. - Increase corporal punishment in schools. - Increase searches of lockers, personal devices, or drug testing in schools. - Deepen disparities between well-funded and underfunded public schools.
You mean bad schools fail? Shocking. The rest is just sperging again
The establishment clause has literally zero to do with funding religious schools, nor is the funding of schools at all a federal issue, and btw, the establishment clause doesn’t apply on the state level, the founding fathers said so explicitly.
More made up bs, this is the New York legalizes jaywalking because of racial inequity stupidity
Less centralized power?! How authoritarian!
You mean like how the states have authority over marriage already? These fucking people irritate me.
If anything we need to strengthen this laws to stop discriminating against white people
For a guy who could not even get a wall built (or make another country pay for it), Trump really has his work cut out for him in these predictions.
These people are convinced Trump will be evil incarnate. Also seems like your friend has succumbed to climate hysteria and thinks not worshipping lgbt is stripping rights. Wasn’t Trump waving a rainbow flag? Weren’t they bragging about removing “anti lgbt” stuff from their platform? So GOP is catching up to Dems
He is a threat to their power and therefor evil incarnate. The equation really is that simple. These are not reasonable people we are dealing with and it would be a mistake to attempt to reason with them.
True
I can see Trump having a more hands off approach. He has two sets of friends. The technocrat class who would want some reform. then other side is his right-wing jewish backers (campaign funders) would not want him to go ham on left leaning concerns.
Most of this would self regulate. Nobody has shown me climate data that is not 'smoke and mirrors'.
I take half of those concerns seriously. many on the right who are not Trump supporters see him as an antichrist figure who will bring more wars and have us colonized with high IQ migrants whom will be impossible to get rid of.
This is either the most important election, the last election or a nothing burger. Be prepared either way.
My first thought, when he said he's defended your right to disagree. Did he support lockdowns and the illegal mandate of the fake vaccine? Because if so he's a filthy liar and he can fuck right off. We don't even need to continue if that's the case.
Next. The vast majority of what he's saying can be answered succinctly, because I'm not going to answer a Gish Gallop point by point.
Whining about losing global presence is a joke, because the current state of the country internationally is the result of liberal policies and actions. If you're so concerned with soft power how about we stop wasting it spending all our political capital promoting faggotry? How about you people not spend two decades undermining the war effort and then acting shocked when our military readiness is in the toilet?
One of the other ones just accuses Trump of plotting to do what every single Democrat has done with the presidency in my lifetime. My father was purged from the military chain of command by Clinton and I got out under Obama, because of how they persecuted our servicemen. They did this, and only they have done this in the last forty fuckin years, to try and secure control of the department of defense. So spare me with the alinsky bullshit of accusing us of what you're doing. If and when we do purge the DOD of leftists it will be fully justified because of your actions.
Another one. "Climate change" is a hoax. Fuck off. If people actually do start swarming up here because their own areas become unlivable, that's all the more reason for a militarized border with a gigantic wall. Not to mention automated guns and a minefield.
Perverts rights shouldn't exist. Choosing to be a freak should not be a protected class. Ditto with child murder. You're accusing Trump of plotting to commit good deeds.
And lastly, nowhere in this preachy, stuffed shirt little scree do you actually mention or address why people are, and should be voting for Trump. Because you stupid motherfuckers tried to poison us all and when you couldn't do that you destroyed the economy. Because you freaking people have tripled grocery prices, destroyed the domestic supply chain and handcuffed this country's industry, just in the last four years. Because three times in the past four years you have attempted to put forth federal legislation to place a tax on my skin color.
Forget voting for you. At this point you should be begging for your lives.
The only response you need.
Sadly, I had to.
Nice gish gallop, but why didn't he do any of that stuff in his first term? Also, of course it's getting warmer, we had a mini ice age that peaked a bit over 200 years ago in the year without a summer and we still haven't returned to the previous pre-industrial peak of the medieval warm period.
This should be “be incompetent,” or “act incompetently,” or “appoint incompetents,” or the lead in should be “here are things I believe will happen” or some similar change. Now, I get it. When you’re building a bullet point list it can be easy to lose track of making everything line up with your lead-in, and if this were several points deep, as long as the communication were still clear, I wouldn’t rag on it too much. An editor should still catch it, but whatever.
But holy shit, this is the first fucking bullet point. At least make the very first one line up with the words directly preceding it, please.
