I think the toxic positivity stuff is very real. When the work environment becomes feminized, no one is allowed to criticize anyone’s labor for any reason. Look at the new Dragon Age. All they needed was one dude willing to say “these characters look terrible, especially the ones with horns, this can’t possibly be what we intend to ship”. But I’m sure any such voice would have been shouted down and summarily dismissed from the team for “toxic workplace behavior”.
Its a problem across most corporations these days. That pure positivity angle is the zeitgeist of industry right now, like how "synergy" was in the prior decade.
And like most things, its because the "big push" right now in Psychology is "unconditional positive regard" and it takes the form of that same toxic positivity where any and all criticism is through so many layers of kindness it can barely even be noticed.
But HR ladies are all usually Psych majors falling into the only job field they can, and they bring their jargon from there into real businesses and it becomes these kind of nonsense.
