Tomatoes are from South America, so by definition, they couldn't have gotten tomatoes in food until the Golden Age of Sail.

Don't ever let them claim that Pizza is Italian. It's American Italian food.

Kinda like how General Tsao's Chicken is also American Chinese food. People in China have no idea what the fuck that even is.

Italian pizza just refers to the bread. The put different stuff on it, but obviously yeah not tomatoes way back in the day.
