The left needed this debate way more than he did. Despite both the media, and the tech companies that control nearly the entire flow of information to the disinterested masses in the middle, giving 100% positive coverage of Harris, and near universal negative (and relentless) coverage of Trump, their girl is still basically a bit under 50/50 odds. Seriously - with the entire force of their machine doing its absolute damnedest to carry her across the finish line, they still can't make her likable enough to be more than 50/50 likely to win. So, they need soundbites. They need new crap their propagandists can blast the disinterested masses in the middle with (and what a surprise, look how hard the machine is going the day after, looking to set the narrative...).
Everyone (everyone that's not a 100% intellectually dishonest leftist) knew that they were going to pull out all the stops at this "debate", and ambush him with as biased a 3v1 full on assault as they could, and then follow it up with endless articles/clips declaring Trump a liar, and Harris the "winner". Again - there was zero reason that he should have walked into this, unless he was able to get it on some sort of "neutral ground" - a non mainstream media moderated platform. Despite knowing exactly what they were going to do, despite knowing that there was no way in hell he'd be allowed to "win" this debate, all they had to do to get him to capitulate, was run that exact simplistic garbage out there calling him "afraid to 'debate' Harris", and they guy walked right into it.

I love the fact that I can go to sleep at night knowing that - despite all his many issues - this one guy is not out to destroy my country like the shitbag left is.
