I’m actually with you on “an archive is better than a screenshot,” but in terms of arguments the one I think you should be making is “it’s easy to look up, but what if it’s been deleted by the time I do?” Which, with a volatile topic like this, on a less-than-stable site like Twitter, from a figure facing DoJ persecution, is really something u/ger111 should be considering, and yet you come off as too lazy/reflexively abrasive to point that out.
That's usually my go to justification given how much memory holing we saw at the peak of GamerGate in the mid 2010s, but it's also election season right now which means all sorts of bad actors are generating content. It is important to remain vigilant against malicious actors who would intentionally fabricate images with the sole purpose of getting us to do or believe things that are contrary to our interests in service of their own malicious goals.
As for my abrasiveness, it's because I am absolutely disgusted with the collapse of standards within this community. We've failed to browbeat the greenhorns into good practices and even the veterans have all grown lazy and complacent, taking the path of least resistance and forgetting why we established certain standards to begin with. I'll stop berating people when they stop earning it.
