I wish it was that simple. Leftoids are so absorbed by their own ideology they actually start to believe their own bullshit. So, yes, it's performative...but they also believe it. Because they see other people believing or claiming to believe it. It reaches critical mass; plenty of the people "outraged" about this actually do think it's some Klan nonsense. Sad but true.
