I was thinking about this exact question today as an example of something that is actually weird rather than manufactured consensus "weird", how weird it is that Biden is not fit to run for office though still fit to be in office, and how incredibly weird it is that the only Democrats seemingly protesting the Harris/Walz ticket are the extremists in their party.
I guess Trump has been a boon for them, in addition to being a threat. They've built him up into such a monstrous figure their own party will accept anything if it sticks it to the Orange Guy. For all their genuine incompetence, their propaganda machine is very formidable, and they certainly don't lack the evil necessary to wield it.
They would have done the same thing to Jeb Bush or Marco Rubio or Ted Cruz. Only Trump is a good enough campaigner and strong enough personality to possibly overcome it.
I guess their excuse would be that he's not fit enough for another four years. Also if you talk to any shitlib it's clear they don't care WHO is in office, just so long as The Blob is in control. They're system pigs.
