this.. we had PIXIV, but some idiots were blabbing about how free it was on the platform and that there was all sorts of 3d and 2d NSFW content. couple weeks later, mastercard/payment processors forced changes that got rid of lots of content.
If you have a good thing going.. how about stfu?? Call it a strawman or whatever, but If i found gold in a river, itll be retarded for me to tell people where i found it.
You assume someone told me. And even if someone did, i wouldnt yap about it and gloat about it on lib sites like twitter or reddit, which puts a target on it. Sure you can post links to the site. But as i mentioned, saying a site is a "freedom of speech" platform on a lib platform is just asking for trouble.
But whatever. Get more sites neutered and censored by making them a target for leftists to cry to credit card companies and gov. Theyll get denied payment process, or get denied hosting/domain, or the families of the owners get doxed. Then we get nothing.
And we on the right wont do shit about it, and yes, that includes me. Just make spicey memes and a few posts about it. We wont stick our necks out for someone or an entity that is unjustly jailed or punished by commie globo homos.
Half the value of a Brand New Full Price Remake is allowing it to be played finally after its been out of print for decades. And wild localizations fall apart once people have access to the original to compare.
That doesn't work if the original is easily accessed and people constantly let that fact be known as actually preventing sales of the Full Price Remake from happening. Vimm's is probably just the most obvious target because its extremely easy to find, simply to navigate and popular.
But its a consistent theme with Nintendo, emulation is begrudgingly left alone until people make it obvious that its costing them money directly. Then they shut down something big to prove a point. Just like they did with Switch emulators after TotK leaked early.
Vimm's been around for 3 decades; I literally visited it within the last 2+ years to browse PS libraries after not touching the website for ~15-20 years, and was impressed that Nintendo ROMs were still up.
This is in no way comparable to Yuzu (modern system) nor the occasional fan initiative to remake an old title with modern graphics or similar creative liberties.
Timing is definitely curious.
I have my doubts about the social media theory, but it's not impossible. More inclined to think it's something more mundane like:
Cleanup is normally performed by 3rd party contractors and Nintendo switched to one that's more diligent about retro gaming, or
Some executive reaction to newer data / interpretation about the profitability of their Nintendo Switch Online crap that bundles access to retro emulators and games, renewing anti-(retro) competition measures.
Because they caught wind of it now. Some idiot on Twitter doesn't know how to keep their fucking mouth shut.
If Nintendo had heard about it a year ago, they'd have DMCA'd it a year ago.

If your plan involves everyone in the world keeping their mouth shut, it's not a good plan.
If you have a good thing going.. how about stfu?? Call it a strawman or whatever, but If i found gold in a river, itll be retarded for me to tell people where i found it.
So the person who told you about it is a retard?

Nintendo is playing whack a mole 30 years too late for sites that carry roms.
You can still find every single NES, SNES and N64 game, as well as rom sets from NA, EU and JP out there.
It's just slightly more difficult with VIMM's lair gone.
I'd mention a few other places, but I know that there are lurkers here who would try and get those places taken down.
Can you DM me some of them? I’m a lurker, yeah, but I support piracy.
God damn it, they were my go-to! Oh well, those Nintenjews can’t keep the roms down forever
I am now vindicated in my multi-week long download spree from Vimm.
Someone should seriously setup a piracy site dedicated for boycotting woke companies including Nintendo.
