I don't think it can actually restore itself at this point. The best it can do is become financially viable again, but it has lost its cultural significance permanently.
The new Rey trilogy is probably gonna be the final axe. If you told me 10 years ago there would be a new Star Wars trilogy and I wouldn’t care at all to see it I would’ve thought you were nuts and yet here we are

Can only regain it if it's put on Hiatus for a number of years, worked for Doctor Who and other franchises.
