Two key points to this that sort of make sense of this:
It was limited to PlayStation only gamers suffering
Giving Sony your information because their security is shit, the biggest example is when they were down for MONTHS after a security breach.
This may just be the straw that broke the camel's back as seems to be the pattern this year as I'd love a similar story that is happening with Square Enix or media companies like WB where they are going to be forced to do massive cuts hopefully purging all of the people that thought these policies were a good idea.
It also helps this is getting a national scale backlash given Helldivers 2 was massively popular in places like China where you CAN'T get PSN so they've effectively shut out all of China.
The first point is more important than it seems.
It's the same principle as why I never cared that people got ripped off paying for updated rosters in sports games when nothing else changed every single year.
Clearly, they're stupid. I don't care if they let themselves get taken advantage of.
I care if their stupidity starts impacting me.
Yep. I dont care about trannies until their tranny shit and androgynous uglie chars start appearing in games.
You can't fix stupid.
Which breach? There have been several.
I'd say the 2011 one as that REALLY damaged their reputation till the short attention span kicked in.
