We’re going to lose freedom of speech because some students said something antisemitic. Now what if the Israeli lobby shouted those things in the first place? (twitter.com)

We’re going to lose freedom of speech...

That's a mere pretext at this point anyway, sadly. We're still doing better than elsewhere, true, but we're far from freedom.

because some students said something antisemitic.

"Antisemitic." It's amazing words like that are given such power. "Racism" was bad enough, this is getting even more ridiculous.

I hope they keep trotting out the "Antisemitism is a mental illness" line, that shit is hilarious...and triggers my accelerationism big time.

So much of the right claims to be pro-logic and anti-SJW, but then they just turn out to be Zionist neocon shills, which are capable of about as much logic as the SJWs they claim to oppose. I'm glad these retards are getting exposed, at least.

Yeah you’re absolutely correct. If you hang around normies like I do you get to see it happen in real time. “Did you hear about those protestors? I’m all for defending against genocide but hate speech is not ok!”

Hearing shit like that makes me want to slap the shit out of them and remind them that all speech is free speech.

Is this a topic of dinner table conversation in the US? I've heard barely anyone talk about it on the other side of the ocean.

No, just mentioned in passing. A lot of normies are more confused about why all these asians, latinx, blacks and Whites are protesting for Palestine instead of:

A) Being neutral

B) Being neutral but wanting Israel and Hamas to not kill kids

C) Pro Israel

D) Actively cheering for them to blow themselves up

Anti-semitism is how they're going to backdoor hate speech law into practice

I'm kind of surprised at the pivot. I guess Oct 7 gave them an excuse, or something. They seemed all in on the "mis/dis/mal-information" bullshit. Then we're right back to the tried and true "antisemitism." I guess it's a one-two punch.

...they'll weaponise groups like the ADL much more than they already have.

I'd say the ADL is very willing and able to weaponize itself already.

General PSA again for you Americans because I'm British and I know how all this works, seriously, be very, very fucking careful towards November. They are going to be looking for any excuse to use this as a way to target Trump supporters...

Firstly, good advice, but we're not there quite yet. One or two people might get swept up - it's already happened - but we're still not in anywhere near as much danger as you guys.

Secondly, not to sound like an Internet Tough Guy, but...fuck 'em. We've got free speech, whether they want to admit it or not. I'll say what I want; they've taken so much else, I'm not going to let them take my thoughts. I'm not violent, I'm not looking to martyr myself in any violent fashion, but free speech has always been one of my core values, and I'll stand for it on general principle. If they want to come get me for my speech, they're welcome to. And, while I doubt it will ever come to it, or anything close to it, I'd like to think I'll have the courage to not take a federal plea...because that shit is bullshit. I hate to see people go down for noncrimes just because the feds got involved.

How ironic. The federal constitution was written by people who were trying very hard to build in protections against tyranny.

We're still doing better than elsewhere

It's hardly possible to do worse than Europe. Well, Western Europe. Russia seems to arrest fewer people than Britain.

"Antisemitic." It's amazing words like that are given such power. "Racism" was bad enough, this is getting even more ridiculous.

Tale as old as time. Heresy had the same.

Indeed, and heresy was an accusation used by the controlling religious order, so if anti-semitism is used against us now, that means the new controlling religious order is....

Try protesting against the war in Ukraine. It's just that the Russian and western regimes have different priorities. But don't confuse that with benevolence.

I think it's very naive to think of states as 'benevolent'. I certainly don't think of Russia, or any state, that way.As for protesting against the war in Ukraine, there was a woman who did that by disrupting a live TV news report to protest against it. She got... a fine.

Meanwhile, in Germany they're threatening to arrest people who use the letter 'Z'.

The fact that a country that's actually at work and in an existential conflict goes easier on dissent than do Western European countries show just how bad things are here.
