I would say a couple of things about this.
First of all, this is a very female expression style. I'm certain you'll find soyboy malefeminists writing the same way, but they're copying women.
So, it's a relatively common female style. It's also been my experience, and this is from IRL as well, that women who talk this way and bring "queer" or "mommy/daddy" or "bdsm" into every topic, are as fucking basic as they come. It's like they get a high from feeling naughty and transgressive.
It's the fucking definition of arrested development.
I looked up Alyssa Mercante, senior editor at Kotaku as of November 2022. In her introductory article, she talkes about her "queer creds," her masters thesis in contemporary queer lit, etc. What does she list for her own personal interests? Three rescue cats. Favorite TV shows are "Real Housewives franchise, Love is Blind, Geordie Shore, and Bar Rescue." "Puck sluts for the [New York Rangers]"
She is just the embodiment of "basic bitch who wants to be special."

They really do. I know this chick, she will bring up boiler plate leftist feminist bullshit. But she will talk about it in a fake whisper, in case the teacher overhears I guess, and gets visibly excited. She talks about it like it's a secret forbidden movement that can't be openly acknowledged.
And yes, she is part of the privileged female managerial class and even more basic than basic bitch.
Just gotta let her know, all the companies that support and propagandize her movement make up more money supporting her than the budgets of every military in the world put together. Her basic views are backed by the biggest industrial machine ever seen in recorded or unrecorded history.
I once mentioned that to her and, I am not even joking, she immediately looped into NPC speak and started ranting about the patriarchy, the evils of white men, and brought up The Handmaid's Tale.
And Euro's mock the American education system. Do you just spend so much time huffing the Bard's farts that you just don't cover the Greek plays?
So much of their ideology IS a fetish, look at The Handmaid's Tale for instance.
There's no group of people I despise more than safe edgy. They're like bullies who figured out that volunteering for hall monitor duty gives them an excuse.
