No black women in the WNBA has a shoe deal, and that's a gigantic problem to USA Today (archive.ph)

Kinda? The Women's Final Four and Women's D1 Championship game got more viewers than the Men's Final Four and Men's D1 Championship game this year, but I think that's entirely because this year's NBA Draft class is some hot garbage, in terms of this class' expected impact on the NBA. The last time the NBA had a draft class this bad was the 2000 Draft, who's best player ended up being Hedo Turkoglu.

Viewer numbers are always a lie, it’s always merch and ticket sales that show actual value/ consumer activity. This is the CNN airport scam, they throw on the “sport” as background noise in enough buildings and Boom! Instant viewer ratings!

Can be, but I've seen enough normies at work talking about Clark that I genuinely think the interest isn't artificial. As much as you might hate women's sports, the fact that it's collegiate women's sports will always boost it since people's emotional attachment to their alma maters is the entire appeal of college sports to begin with. As much as you may absolutely want the interest to be fake, I just don't think it is at the moment.

People talk about Clark because she’s the current prop. People “talked” about women’s soccer with the same fervor until last year when they showed how irrelevant they are last year. It’s all hype circulation that will flame out the second she underperforms or the appeal fades. Female sports is the new virtue signaling for moderates/ “conservatives” as it fits both the gynocentric narrative of “equality” and the political pandering to women.

I know this year numbers were big, and Clark being in the news for the scoring record caused a surge in viewing. I wonder if the boom is sustainable? And no one brings up last year's numbers, which makes me believe this year's number isn't indicative of a recent rise and just an aberration. I'll guess we'll see with next year
