Critical Drinker positive reviews are 9 out of 10 bad. Is like he tries to say, see I'm centrist, I like woke crap as long as I find something I like about it. It is so predictable.
The "Fandom Menace" pure vitriol type grift has mostly run out. None of those guys are going to keep growing into the multimillion sub base they want without being a milquetoast "good boy" semi-Leftist.
None of these guys are ever going to have a take that isn't carefully cultivated around whether it gets them cancelled or not and whether the "outrage clickbait" will get them more clicks than the generic FOMO video.
That's something I've noticed, too. I recently watched some penguinz0/Moist Critikal again after a long time and holy shit has he turned into a normie Redditor.
It was all downhill as soon as he put his face everywhere.
I think it’s mostly to do with fanbases who enjoy stuff like that are just simply giving up and leaving the franchises altogether. I used to be a huge Marvel and Star Wars fan but I don’t even bother watching angry reviews online because I’m just…done with it all. These reviewers need to make money so you’re absolutely correct that they’ll eventually bend the knee to make it happen
And guys slightly more on the fence than you who are "done" are a crucial part of their audience.
Its why they always have "STAR WARS IS GOOD AGAIN?!?!" reviews for the most boring and only moderately less bad products, to pull people back into to repeat the "get angry, watch reviews to validate" cycle.
The engine does very fun things if you mess with the fps, the physic are tied to it very hard. Which is better then some old games in which the entire game is tied to the speed of the cpu...
That isn't better. It's pretty much the same thing.
I think people are watching his reviews with the wrong expectations. He's a writer and a movie buff. His complaints are almost about writing: plot holes, characterization, pacing, bad dialog etc.
I've always got the impression that he's not against The Message because of the message is unethical, but because its inclusion is almost always done in an incompetent way that fucks up something about the writing itself. If you took a non-historical IP and made everyone a black woman w/o swapping an existing character or fucking with some established lore, I don't think he'd care all that much. Same with making them all women; as long as they were written as humans and not infallible Mary Sues.
He was fawning over Blue Eye Samurai, which is "diverse whamen vs. the evil white men," but they have her fall down sometimes and picked a setting that isn't completely at odds with that story setup. That was enough to get it a pass from him.
Like has been said in other posts: the flaws he finds, he explains very well. But he's effectively blind to any woke stuff that doesn't outright destroy the script. He's not Gary or Az.
Bingo. he was totally cool with black people/elves/Hobbits in the new LOTR Amazon show. "Its horrible because of the story". I mean yeah, but even if it had a good story it would still be horrible because it had non whites in it. in reality, representation for the sake of it is just gay and try hard and box checking. And it's okay if people don't want diversity in everything. In fact it's okay if people DISlike diversity in movies, media, or real life. People really do push the narrative that diversity is OBJECTIVELY good and we should all worship at its altar.
He is quite a shit writer and movie buff then, the pilot itself got plot holes, weird pacing, shit dialog and so on. And this is without getting into original lore.
Nay, I say he is wanting to join the dying empire for success and fame, his offer is that he can bring the strays back onto the farm.
Yeah, I became concerned when he started scoring interviews with Russell Crow and appearing on Piers Morgan that he’d sell out. Damn shame too, his negative reviews were always so spot on.
I like his movie recommendations, but his show recommendations are ass.
His negative recommendations are good though. Stuff he dislikes is never good.
