I wouldn't say worrying about optics is why the original gamergate stalled. I'd say it was a combination of naivete on how malicious our enemy was, who EXACTLY our enemy was, no clear plan and effective strategies.
Now? We're jaded as fuck, the normies are jaded and their infinite slush funds are drying up. We're experienced and knowledgeable on WHO the problem is, and they have not many places to run to anymore.
We knew who the enemy was, but too many people in the original group saw themselves as "one of the good ones" liberals, and couldn't bring themselves to admit that liberals were the enemy.
I also think the jannies of Kia way back when (and maybe still today) couldn't admit that it was a bigger problem because that would mean owning up to all the shit that they knew was fucked.
'Member when they demodded one of their own for daring to think that Antifa attacking a journalist because they didn't like his politics was neither Social Justice or Ethics in Journalism?
It's funny back then I was pretty naive like the other people. Hell I wasn't even aware there was a difference between jews and white. The only thing I knew was how one-sided the history seemed to be especially with the discussion of WW2 was. When I look back, I remember how blatant it felt something was off about it. If it wasn't for gamergate, I don't think I would hold extreme view as I am now. This meme sums me up.
