My company has a "High Five" Slack channel for people to post shout-outs to coworkers. I usually ignore it. It'll get a few posts per month.
Last week, I was "reading" all of the missed messages in channels that I typically ignore, and when I click on "High Five", there's a message of appreciation from some chick listing like 4 or 5 other chicks and all of the indispensable work that they do. Then I scroll up a bit and see dozens of messages like this -- women sending messages to all of the other totes amazing women that they work with.
All on March 8th. i.e. International Women's Day.
It was, honestly, one of the most pathetic things I've ever seen in a professional setting. I can't imagine anyone being happy with such naked patronization, but then these are mostly childless 30-something women so it makes some sense.
It would have been chef's kiss had someone praised the office tranny (if you office has one) on International Women's Day.
Actually, we do. We've got a 6' Adam's Apple'd ma'am on our DIE committee.
Better yet, give a shout out on international men’s day as well
