He's too old and past it to understand entertainment in terms of video games and even animated works. This is a weakness of the 'old guard' conservatives.
If you want someone who has conservative values but UNDERSTANDS the culture, go look to people like Shadiversity/ Knights Watch, the Daily Wire ones can only help with the obvious you are born a man or a woman, that's it.
Matt Walsh isn't even 40. He grew up in the Golden Age of video games, so it is highly unlikely he doesn't understand them even if he doesn't (or didn't) play them. I'm older than Matt Walsh, and I played a shitload of video games when I was a kid. Even if I don't like the games they make today, I understand why they appeal to people/kids.
I find it hard to believe that someone who looked like this in 2016 has never played video games. More likely, he's playing a part for his Boomer audience who watched their kids play video games and were kinda confused why they spent so much time playing them instead of playing outside.
Read his old NeverTrump articles from 2016. He was "concerned" about Trump's "misogyny" and "sexism" and "racism" and all those "sensitive male" views that went along with how he looked in that photo. Now he looks like a lumberjack and acts in the exact "misogynistic" and "sexist" manner he used to lambast Trump for.
Alex Jones OTOH...love him or hate him but you can watch his videos from 20+ years ago, and he hasn't really changed much aside from getting older.
The thing that I want to know is what people like him even "do"? He hates video games, he hates anime (which I will at least admit is an acquired taste), he hates modern Hollywood (with good reason at least), so...what is left that people actually do. Sports I guess? Reading? And what of these are where most up and coming people (including younger conservatives) are?
Fishing, cars, hiking, martial arts, the regular arts, wine tasting, carpentry, golf. I don't know how many of those he practices though. Somehow I doubt Matt is cracking bolts on a 6.2L Hemi.
I kinda called it early didn't I?

If he's playing a bit for his boomer audience, that's just slimy, especially considering the impact Sweet Baby actually has.
If Alex Jones can differentiate between playing a bit and being serious, why can't he to his audience?
I just think he's kinda a slimy guy.

Jones is a more real person than him
