by the way, the only reason you need a dedicated PC is because ChimeraOS reformats the existing hard drive during the setup process. you could in theory set up another OS on another hard drive after the fact, but if you're already using one pc for everything... it's not the best choice.
Ah, most of the games on my gaming rig are on external drives, with a few big games on a a dedicated M2 drive. I don't have any games on the C:, just some downloaded stuff, user folder, and Windows -- I'm assuming it's the C: that gets formatted?
Also, do you know if Nvidia drivers are supported in ChimeraOS?
most likely, assuming it's the primary drive. For safety, I would move any files you can't afford to lose to another drive (or even get a fresh drive if you want to be paranoid, lol), and disconnect all other drives while installing it.
Keep in mind, however, that the computer in question will effectively be gaming only while you have ChimeraOS installed. Not trying to discourage you, I just don't want to leave you with a bad taste in your mouth by not warning you what to expect.

I believe there's a way, but I've never used it with an nvidia GPU, so I can't say for sure.
btw, here's the website so you don't have to wait for me to get back to you. I don't mind answering your questions, in fact I'm happy to help however I can, but I'm sometimes slow to respond, and I've only dabbled with it a little bit (I have it on an all-in--one PC that has some bad caps so it only works every six months or so for a few days at a time, lol)
Oh, I don't mind the slow responses at all. I'm in no rush, and I don't game on my gaming rig often anyway.
I would likely have to do a lot of research before pulling the trigger on replacing the OS. I usually don't have the time like I used to for all the tinkering and messing around, so usually I spend some months just researching things before diving in so I understand how much time it will take and what I will need to expect.
I think my biggest worry is that I play some flight/space sims and racing sims using VKBs and Fanatec and I guess I would also have to do some research on if ChimeraOS supports that stuff as well. I don't even have a dedicated keyboard/mouse on the gaming rig, which kind of goes to show just how gaming oriented it is, so I don't mind if that's all it would be used for, but basically I would need to research what works and what doesn't.
Still, I appreciate all the help and the starting point for finally divorcing Windows on the gaming pc. All of this would be so much easier if Valve weren't lazy, ha.
Ah really? I need to look into that, thanks for the heads-up!
you're welcome =) glad I could help.
