I didn't say it was near as bad. Few things reach the level of TLOU2.
I used it as one of the most obvious examples of "we wanted X representation/woke BS, and then wrote the story to conform around it." And then how fans will twist around that by saying "yeah but its logical and set up that way" as if the writers just had their hands tied in doing so.
It was created years before you could be outright hostile to your fans and get away with it, and was coming off the heels of a successful and well made series/team. So its not gutter garbage, but its clearly being used to push an ideology that should have told you to not watch it from moment one.
Let's not forget that its Korra canon that homophobia is one of the worst things about Sozin and his effects on the world, up there with a century of war and genocide.
fair, but the comics are not cannon as far as I'm concerned, and neither is the retcon on how the avatar state works.
Well it was directly written by one of the creators, with the other on as a consultant. Which makes it clearly the point they were building towards and intending the entire time.
Especially as they admitted the only reason why they didn't be "more openly gay" and opened the comic with the gay kiss is because the network was holding them back, so clearly this was what they truly wanted it to be.
You don't need to consider it canon, we all have our series we feel that way about (I got strong opinions on Dragon Ball). Buts its existence tells what they were trying to do with the series proper and that's my point all along.
