I disagree. In a monopolized environment, cronyism and cozying to the right people is what gets you ahead. your actual skill or productivity is irrelevant.
A company has to be worried about losing you to their competitors in order to give a shit about your productivity. if they know they are the only one that you can work for, there's no incentive for them to treat you well.
You just described a union. Kissing ass, cronyism, etc. Unions in a nutshell.
indeed I did. the people you have to suck up to might change, but the result is mostly the same. the difference is one has to at least pretend that your safety and well-being are their top priority.
That side isn't the unions dude. They're there to take your money and launder it.
The person who will look out for you is you.
it depends on the time period and how old the union is. a fresh Union formed under a monopolized job market literally has to be legit, or else they will not get any members or any support.
an old Union working in a non-monopolized market is guaranteed to be money laundering.
