I have nfi what they did to the servers or maybe it's just overloaded. I suddenly had issues joining games, saying error failed to join game. It's like I fail 8 times for every 1 time I succeed. And today, the game just stopped working 50% of the time thanks to their anti cheat drm, gameguard. When I click to launch it, it just says contacting servers and then it gives me this page https://gameguardfaq.nprotect.com/eng/con_02.html

From what I've heard, it's the servers getting overwhelmed with too many players. Definition of "suffering from success". Probably a nice problem to have, I just hope the devs get it sorted out soon.
Yeah the devs did not anticipate so many people playing the game. Apparently the original peaked at only 7k concurrent players. Helldivers 2 has gotten over 225k concurrent players.
Yeah this happens a lot with the indie games that do well, Battlebit Remastered I think may be going through the same problems but it might be more due to a bug? Servers are certainly a lot more full than they had been recently. This is a classic example though of why I want more true offline singleplayer games but a lot of devs are averse to that at the moment. I'm very glad to see everyone ditching the big studios in favour of indies.
Helldivers 2 I'm not sure it is a indie game anymore. It is published by sony, it got more then 100 employees. And its studio has been around for over 11 years.
edit: And they are ditching it for the same evil greed as before...
Ah didn't know that admittedly, thanks.
I installed it on a VM and it hadn't given me a bit of trouble thus far. If you have an anti virus software installed (I don't) I've heard some of them don't play nice with the anti cheat.
The anti cheat they use is kernel-level, which is an automatic nope for me.
