I’m black and I recognize it. After the 2020 election my dad said republicans shouldn’t spend one more dime on the black community. If Trump would’ve had a tougher response to the riots I think the blacks who were already going to vote for him would’ve. Like you said he annoyed a lot of people by not doing enough

Trump's basically got all the white voters he's going to get. To pull in white voters he's going to have to pull in Leftists, middle-managerial suburbanites, and bleeding heart Anglos in NE. Frankly, appealing to blacks is the only way to appeal to those whites. Beyond that, Trump's coalition has made significant gains among urban voters. The value of this is to strike a the heart of Leftist power. Winning every county in Illinois except counties around Chicago doesn't win Illinois. But winning every county in Illinois, and cutting Dem votes by 20% or 30% in Chicago wins you the state.

Trump should be focused on increasing his margins with White men. His coalition to winning relies on keeping rural numbers up and slightly improving with suburban Whites.

Trump actually improved with White women in 2020 versus in 2016.
The one demographic that Trump got less in 2020 vs 2016 was college educated White men.
College educated White men did not like Trump being weak on BLM riots and they didn't like his COVID response.
