Being anti-Constitution is a positive for anyone on the Right these days, since there's no point of purposefully handicapping yourself with rules that the Left doesn't follow (and hasn't followed for more than a century, if ever).
Except he is kneecapping the ability to criticize prominent democrats with his anti-anti-Semitism laws. Aka, laws that will only ever be enforced against whites.
Sure, DeSantis sucks on this issue and is obviously owned by Israel.
The point more broadly is 1A doesn't survive bad actors funding unlimited psychological warfare on your citizens and a realistic effort to stop the Left is going to have to curtail 1A's broadest interpretations while also restoring the basic shit it's actually intended for (letting American men discuss how to run American society & govt)
How does being anti 1A help him as a Republican
Any Right-aligned political figure who wants to fix things has to be willing to make hard choices. Some of those hard choices mean Leftists need to get punished for evil actions. Some of those evil actions include lying, and they will screech about the 1A the entire way down, if they get what's coming to them.
