At the same time, most of them do believe that aliens exist and have advanced several hypotheses about everything from interstellar travel to silicon-based life. The point is that the facts about RUFOs do not have any concordance with these academic hypotheses. In fact, they don't make sense with any idea that aliens are another intelligent biological species.

I don't want to be too dogmatic about this, but the term "UFO cult" exists for a reason. Heaven's Gate is only the most famous one.
