Been looking at getting some new games or grabbing some older games to play. Got a Switch, Xbox One and gaming laptop. Figured might as well make a gaming post since it's been a while since this site has had one.
Is the First Descendant any good? How about the World War Z video game? I heard that one was a lot like Left 4 Dead. Also, any good beat em ups coming out soon?
I'd argue the Batman Arkham games count as beat em ups, and as I've been replaying those I can say they still hold up very well. Probably the last good Superhero games made before the woke took hold and we got whatever the fuck Gotham Knights, Suicide Squad and Spiderman are doing.
Also the remake of Star Ocean 2 just came out and has been just fucking dabbing on every JRPG released in years, despite most of its systems being straight from the PS1. Spending your time forging literal counterfeit checks and stock certificates to make you shit tons of money while you go around pickpocketing end game equipment from random NPCs and then laughing at the feeble enemy encounters you face. All the while keeping the Private Action events where characters go out and flirt with people and rate both NPCs and their party member's hotness.
Its probably the best remake I've ever seen, in that is has completely obliterated any reason to play the original or the first remake with almost no metric it fails in comparison to. Even giving the option of flipping to the original music and portraits for the minorest of complaints.
If you like "classic" crpg like baldies gate 1&2 then Pathfinder Kingmaker is a pretty faithful modernization.
If you like bullet hell Rogue lite similar to binding of Isaac then magicraft scratches that itch.
Baldies?
Damn you autocorrect
No no, this was a hint by spellcheck.
Pathfinder Kingmaker will drive that laptop crazy hot. lol. Wasteland 2 is basically 2D and is a CRPG.
If you like beat 'em ups then Streets of Rage 4 is the way to go, IMO.

Look up Shredders Revenge if you want a beat em up.
Gunner heat PC if you're a massive nerd like me for tanks.
If you like flight sim that allows you to drop bombs, I recommend Nuclear Option. It's actually pretty great flight simulator and seems to be made by small team or 1 person, so there's no dodgy free to play or microtransactions.
Has anyone tried Fallout Shelter? Is that worth playing? How do you play it? Are you supposed to play every day? Is it just a cash grab? I play all Fallout games, but I'm always suspicious of "your favorite franchise but mobile."
World War Z was... okay? In coop anyway. It's at least not the worst example of a stereotypical Unreal 4 3rd person shooter. Unfortunately, it's still a stereotypical Unreal 4 3rd person shooter.
So it does not recreate the Left 4 Dead magic?
I could not fathomably compare it to Left 4 Dead in any regard other than for that it also happens to be set in a zombie apocalypse. Nothing about the gameplay or format is really similar at all.
Unless you somehow had the game confused with Back 4 Blood?
No, no one has said anything good about Back 4 Blood. I heard comparisons between World War Z and Left 4 Dead. Sounds like it is just the 4 person team zombie shooter format not anything special.
Ah, okay. Just thought I'd check to be sure.
And yeah, I've not heard many positive things about Back 4 Blood either.
Left 4 Dead's magic was being a very mediocre game boosted by Valve fanboys
