Could be, given the recent Hamas-Israeli spat and the lack of progress on Ukraine.
Could also be recruitment and reserves are so far down they can't maintain the several hundred outposts where we squat our troops in various countries all over the world.
Oh there's plenty of progress in the Ukraine. Just not from the NATO side. The Russians took Avdeevka earlier this week, and the Ukro army is in shambles with many units even refusing to take the field anymore at all.
The propaganda lags behind the reality of the ground. Right now they're chattering about a stalemate. But that was August. The reality is that the AFU is being routed.
Turns out when you run a war entirely on propaganda and being the talking point for the entire world to give you sympathy and backup, you run the risk of losing being The Thing to another major event.
Yeah. No way russia will lose face. They are probably prepared to do this as long as it takes. Russia has been in tougher situations than this.. like mass starvation of tens of millions and tens million dying in wars.
I still think ukraine will be where the israeli will flee to if they lose. To start the Kharkian kingdom again. Thats the long term plan. We gonna give trillions to make sure israeli have a kingdom in ukraine.
It would be incredibly obvious if Russia actually got serious. They've just been using the war as a training exercise and excuse to modernize / propaganda on the home front. Taking a page out of the US playbook with a low intensity forever war.
Also a way to get rid of riff-raff they've built up over the years: top-heavy military bureaucracy, poorly maintained units, and prisoners. I guess that's one sort of modernizing.
They've been testing out their new Universal Combat Platform, as well as seeing how effective their decades old equipment is at certain tasks (using T-55's as mobile and hard artillery for example). Smart, with the US doing the same thing.
Lose what?
I haven't been monitoring the situation, nor have I heard much on my feeds, so I just assumed things were stalled. Goes to show how well the Hamas-Israeli situation is distracting from everything.
Imagine watching the shambolic withdrawal of Afghanistan, only to go back into the fucking Middle East two years later.
IDK, but a carrier alone has like a 5000 person crew.
