Can you actually provide any evidence that what they are saying is the live Japanese translation?
Like, for example. Can you give the the string of Japanese characters that repeats the same voice we hear in the show; and compare it to the sentence at the top, and one sentence at the bottom, with a specific time stamp.
We should be able to sus it out from there.
The problem is that this could very easily just be you violating Rule 16 by creating fake subtitles, thus setting an easy precedent to make schitzo-posts by creating fake subtitles.
The fact that one set of translations is talking explicitly about specific characters, while another isn't mentioning it, tells me we should be able to figure out which is which.
Other than the fact that the dialogue is clearly saying things like "america" and "Iran-Iraq" which the top subtitles says but the bottom subtitles doesnt say even though you can clearly hear it.
Here's AnimeNewsNetwork website describing the plot of the story which clearly reflects what is going on in the top subtitles. The article of course also complains about how bigoted and antisemitic, racist , imperialist the anime is. You can find other articles also complaining about this
Wow, they really diverged when he started talking about Vietnam. The bottom sub absolutely no relation to the top one from that point forward.
It's true that Iraq asked the US if they would mind if Iraq invaded Kuwait and we initially said it was OK. The story I heard was that Margaret Thatcher when ape shit when she found out and all the sudden we had to go to war with them.
That's hilarious. Angel Cop was already on my to-watch list but this bumps it up. Also I found a couple of gems in a random Google search for Angel Cop:
Fullmetal Alchemist's Writer Also Wrote the Antisemitic... Aug 30, 2021 — Sho Aikawa, the writer of the 2003 Fullmetal Alchemist anime, also wrote the infamously awful and antisemitic OVA, Angel Cop. - cbr.com - https://www.cbr.com › Anime › Anime Features
Angel Cop - Repulsive, Uncomfortable, Anti-Semitic May 31, 2006 — Angel Cop – Repulsive, Uncomfortable, Anti-Semitic ... Angel Cop is the epitome of everything Manga (at least in the UK) used to stand for - bateszi.me - https://bateszi.me › 2006/05/31 › angel-cop-repulsiv...
Couple that with some reddit thread trashing the show, and it's now at the top of my list.
i dont know. This anime was made in 1989. so it might have been older localizers or modern localizers. Even in 1989 people couldnt say things the original dialogue said, in America either
kind of useless if you the poster don't even know the context, was it self censoring by the official subbers? by the fan subbers? copy pasting subs from a wrong script? who knows. 🤷♂️
Looking a little into this, seems like the English dub script was very different from the original Japanese script "to fit the flashy/bizarre 80s sci-fi aesthetics", the nonsensical subs might be "closed caption" for the English dub instead of actual translated subs. The Japanese script played it straight while the English dub made it its own little sci-fi world detached from current day contexts
Sounds kind of like how Haim Saban invented Power Rangers by splicing redubbed versions of the Japanese version together with original American scenes.
The dub is completely different from the original story . Even the sub is censored/edited , if you want to watch sub, you need to find the uncensored version

And here's a wikipedia article about how the anime was censored cause the original was antisemitic

The wiki blurb doesn't mention why the changes about America's wars. Ironically keeping those lines would have made it seem less "imperialist".
But it's good to know that localizers have always been pieces of shit.
This still doesn't actually tell us what the translation is, but it's not disinformation on your part. Post Approved.
And you can't even deny the accuracy of the "fansubs," as you can actually hear them mention the proper names.

I remember it being a "misunderstanding" on Saddam's part. 🤷♀️

Is the bottom set of subs by a modern localizer or something?

Also robotech's existence. This was a very common thing back in the 80s.
And samurai pizza cats, the footage reedited and the dialogs completely rewritten
That makes a lot of sense. I've never watched this but should be easy to confirm.
The bottom set seems to be from a completely different video. The text has no relation to what the characters are saying.
The ones at the top are pretty accurate, though.
