The verbage here is so telling.

He is absolutely a successful man, no clone about it. But she wants to prime you to think he is a deceitful monster all around by calling him a faker of one. Its also conflating success with morality. You can be a piece of shit and be successful easily, its only in women's chimp like brains that they cannot separate the two and think "if he is rich and popular, well he must be a good man!!"

It also throws in the "sadly" point. Almost certainly to try and hide the fact that him being this alpha chad stereotype is making her sound really bad, so now its society's fault that she thinks she has to pursue this guy. She isn't a vain, narcissistic branch swinger. She was just raised to think rich, good looking men were the ideal!
