Culture shock, sure, but the whole “Nordic model” is just a bit… Shit, honestly.
The whole country (that I have seen so far) feels like “Pleasantville”, but woke, and uber-modern, rather than 1950s Americana…
And the Turks. The fucking Turks here. Eugh…
Their rudeness seems more intentional than I would say it seems to be with more… “Native” Swedes.
Gonna be interesting learning to survive here. As a very “social” person, I… Certainly have some adjusting to do.
The strange mix of ultra-conformity and extreme cultural introvertedness is… A vibe. I’ll say that much.
Customer service? Ha…
It is absolutely intentional
I genuinely hate the Turkish nationalists after learning about their relationships with other middle eastern countries. Bit of an off topic back story with that but they have a lot of unpleasant history thanks to the Ottomon Empire and a bunch of them are fantasists who want to bring that shit back which is why they have such a god complex about ruling over other people depending on what they're like. Serious advice for the OP, stay the fuck away from the Turks and don't try talking about the Kurds etc. around them. Regardless of how anyone feels about the Kurds, it's easy to see why they end up fighting the Turks even in other countries.
It's complicated with the Kurds, I won't obviously condone their behaviour, however knowing your factions in the middle east is important. There are the Kurdish YPG who are the more sort of moderate force in the Kurdistan region that people actually like there and then there's the PKK who are regarded as terrorists even in the west because they go after civilian and political targets within Turkey itself which is how they got put on lists.
There is something going on with the Kurds as well though because I remember a recent story popping up about them kicking shit off in Japan and forgetting where they were. It seems people from the middle east especially can't keep their bullshit factional disputes within their home regions and that does piss me off because I grew up in a migrant community and I know what that's like.
I felt like turks were alright. Better than Africans in that they can actually build a society
