I thought it was weird when the phrase "trust and safety" just came out of nowhere but every left-aligned person already knew exactly what it meant and used it like it had been around for years.
the term "fake news" similarly appeared out of thin air, immediately after Trump was elected (and is now unfortunately used by normies all over the west, and not ironically).
They made a concerted effort to establish "fake news" because they intended to use it to destroy Breitbart and other right wing outlets, then Trump stole the phrase from them forever, so they sputtered for a while then came back with "misinformation" and resumed the playbook.
